Denver Cat Businesses
Denver has plenty to offer cat lovers, with cozy cat cafes and locally-owned pet stores. Some of these spots are personal favorites I’ve visited, while others come highly recommended by fellow cat enthusiasts. I’m excited to explore more of them soon—and I’d love to hear your favorite cat-friendly places, too!
Cat Food and Toys
When it comes to spoiling our cats, only the finest will do!
Chow Down: This pet supply store in Evergreen, CO, specializes in premium pet food and treats. I’m sure my cat, Mr. Butter, would love to sample all the fancy cat treats they offer! They also have a huge selection of cat toys, unique cat trees, and anything your cat needs. But, the most exciting thing – and the reason I initially found them – is they have a cat adoption room. The adoptable cats are from the Evergreen Animal Protective League (EAPL).
Simpawtico: This locally owned pet store in Denver’s Highland neighborhood focuses on high-quality, nutritious food, treats, toys, and supplies for cats and dogs. I discovered the shop after one of my favorite clients recommended them when I had a golden retriever with a sensitive stomach. Some of my best cat toys for photoshoots come from Simpatico.
A Pet’s Paradise: Pet supply store in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.
Just Cats: Online-only, but locally owned.
Cat Cafes
Did you know that cat cafes feature gift shops and offer the chance to adopt the cats you meet?
Denver Cat Company: This cat cafe on Tennyson St. in the Berkeley neighborhood has been in business for nearly a decade. Run by the non-profit Denver Cat Rescue, it has facilitated over 3,000 adoptions. I’ve taken many houseguests here, and it’s always a hit—especially for out-of-towners who’ve never experienced a cat cafe!
The Happy Beast Cat Cafe: If you’re near Lafayette, stop by The Happy Beast Cat Cafe for a little cat time and a cozy drink (coffee, tea, or hot chocolate). They’re the newest and most affordable cat cafe in the Denver area. They’re attached to a natural pet food store so you can also pick up some snacks to bring home to your kitty.
Teddy Cat Cafe: Pet adoptions plus gift shop located just off of S. Broadway, near Denver’s Platt Park neighborhood. The vibe is definitely geared toward a younger, urban crowd. Their strength seems to be an above-average selection of cat-themed gifts.
The Biscuit Factory: Cat Cafe in Colorado Springs with special events, including cat yoga, movie nights and craft nights.
Cat Sitters
This is who watches my very own Mr. Butter when I’m out of town. Need I say more?
Here’s what Kelsey has to say about her pet sitting business.
“I’m Kelsey, owner of Sunny Spot Pet Care. With 7+ years of veterinary experience specializing in felines, 3 years of professional pet sitting experience, and hundreds of miles walked alongside dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, I provide knowledgeable, reliable, and personalized care for every family I serve. Whether your companion loves playtime, long walks, quiet companionship, couch cuddles, or simply needs extra patience and space, every visit is tailored to their unique personality, comfort level, and routine. My goal is to help your pets feel safe, relaxed, and cared for while giving you peace of mind knowing they’re in compassionate, experienced hands.”
Certified Feline Behavior Modification Specialist: I met Jaime while volunteering at Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue (RMFR). During that time, she was the RMFR Executive Director.
Cat-only, locally-owned Veterinarians
Denver Cat Hospital: SE Denver (Evans & Holly)
Purrfect Health Cat Hospital: Lone Tree
All Cat Clinic: Englewood
Castle Rock Cat Hospital: Castle Rock
Cat-only Rescues
Cat Care Society: Free-roaming cat shelter established in 1981.
Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue: I volunteered at RMFR from 2020 to 2021. I took photos as needed, but my main job was to play with the cats—tough gig, I know! My mood was always 100% better after my volunteer shift! They also had unique fundraising events that got me outside my bubble in 2021. I joke that the kittens helped get me through the pandemic! I met many wonderful people there and recommend adopting from them.
Angels with Paws: A small cat rescue located in Lakewood. They work to rehabilitate and socialize cats, making them more adoptable and ready for family life.
